ARM Based CPU Board Series
The software development environment provided with the Armadillo series boards consists of three tools: ATDE, the GNU cross development tools and Atmark Dist. These tools can be obtained from both the CD included in the development models and our download site.
ATDE
Atmark Techno Development Environment (ATDE) is a VMware virtual machine data image which provides a development environment for the Armadillo series boards. The image includes a Linux desktop environment along with the GNU cross development tools and other necessary development tools preinstalled. By using ATDE, it is no longer necessary to spend time setting up a development PC and installing the various required tools.
ATDE can be used with VMware Player, and requires a PC with the following specifications.
- 1.5GHz CPU or above
- 512MB RAM or above
- 10GB or more free HDD space
Of course, it is still possible to install the GNU cross development tools and Atmark Dist on a Linux PC or on coLinux running under Windows.
GNU Cross Development Tools
Kernels and applications to be run on the Armadillo series boards can be built using the cross compiler and other tools included in the GNU cross development tool chain.
Atmark Dist
Product development, involving both application and kernel development, can be carried out using Atmark Dist. Atmark Dist not only provides the ability to customize kernels and make application selections, but can also be used to build image files to be written to the board Flash memory with a single command. With Atmark Dist, it is simple to customize Armadillo boards in order to produce final products.
