High Performance ARM11 Processor
The high performance ARM11 CPU (Freescale i.MX31L) operates at 400MHz and provides a vector floating point coprocessor, a 128KB level two cache, a MPEG4 encoder, video output and an audio interface. With low heat generation, no fan is needed.
Tiny Form-Factor and High Expandability
The tiny 34mm by 54mm module integrates the i.MX31L CPU, high speed DDR SDRAM and Flash memory. With the 280 pin connectors, the module can be connected to inexpensive four layer circuit boards for expansion, making Armadillo-500 perfect for use in projects with high-mix low-volume production runs.
Support for Linux, WindowsCE and ITRON *
Armadillo-500 is shipped with Linux as the standard operating system. Other major embedded operating systems, such as Windows CE with its outstanding GUI and development environment, and uITRON with its real-time control functionality, will also be supported.

Security / IPv6 Support
The high performance ARM11 processor allows for world standard SSL and IPsec encryption, as well as support for the next generation network protocol, IPv6.
Development Kit
A development kit for Armadillo-500 is available which includes a base board (with USB2.0, Ethernet, CompactFlash, SD/MMC, Audio in/out and VGA), together with base board schematics, Linux device drivers and a software development environment.
Software Development Environment
The software development environment provided with Armadillo-500 consists of three tools: ATDE, the GNU cross development tools and Atmark Dist.
