Atmark Techno

Atmark Techno, Inc (Head Office: Sapporo Japan, President: Tomohiro Saneyoshi) has developed the Armadillo-200 series of three Linux ready small form-factor computers.

The Armadillo-200 series are designed for embedded use, employing an ARM processor widely utilized in mobile phones and portable gaming machines. Along with Linux supplied as the standard operating system, WindowsCE, NetBSD and ITRON are also supported.

The three units developed are Armadillo-220 (A220), Armadillo-230 (A230) and Armadillo-240 (A240). While maintaining software compatibility with the top of the line Armadillo-9, by limiting each unit to specific functionality has allowed for an approximate 40% price reduction and a form factor the size of a business card. This will in turn allow for low cost development of increasingly varied network ready products.

As an example of possible uses, A220 includes USB, which would allow for storage of measurement data that could then be sent via the network. With A230 having two LAN ports, it could be used as a network security device for monitoring irregular packets or VPN routing. Whereas A240 has both USB and video output, which could be used in ATM or POS like information display terminals

The Armadillo-200 series will be on display from the 19th of April at the 15th Board Computer and Embedded System Technology Exhibition at TECHNO FRONTIER 2006, booth 7107.
